Hollywood

What is Hollywood?

Hollywood is a neighborhood in the central part of Los Angeles, California. Over the years, this name has become synonymous with the American film industry. Famous studios such as Disney, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros. and Universal Pictures were founded in Hollywood. Hollywood was incorporated in 1930 as a municipality and merged with Los Angeles in 1910. Subsequently, the promising real estate city grew to become a prominent location for the American and Western film industry and thus became the place most heard around the world. Hollywood is a term used by directors and cinematographers associated with American films and television shows.

Hollywood is located northwest of downtown Los Angeles and is bordered by Beverly Boulevard (to the south), Hyperion Avenue and Riverside Drive (to the east), Beverly Hills (to the west), and the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains to the north. Called the City of Tinsel, Hollywood is an ideal location that combines pleasant weather conditions and geographical structure, and is also a promising labor market. Since the early 1900s, Hollywood has been home to actors and directors and is synonymous with American movies and TV shows. The film industry has spread throughout southern California, including New York City, but Hollywood remains the amphalos of the American film industry.

Hollywood is the oldest film industry, where the first film studios and production companies emerged. It is the birthplace of various film genres – including comedy, drama, action, musical, romance, horror, science fiction, and military epic – and has become a model for other national film industries.

Hollywood and glamor go hand in hand and are defined by the face and impression of a celebrity. Everyone in Hollywood is always striving to become someone or something, and those who have already reached the top are no longer who they are and live by other people’s intentions and ideas. However, this is not surprising, as the city is characterized by success, individuality, the ability to impress and fame, and fame-based social hierarchies, and therefore it is difficult for people to be themselves.

The name Hollywood was officially registered in 1887 by Harvey H. Wilcox in his land deed. Another version also says that his wife, Daedia Wilcox, heard the name from her friend Ivar Wade and suggested the same to her husband. However, another story says that Daediah met a stranger on a train who lived in a state called “Hollywood” in Illinois. Despite the fact that the origin of the name Hollywood is associated with many versions, there is little evidence to support it.
