Cosponsored with the Aurora Picture Show, filmmaker, video artist and documentarian Braden King will present his feature film HERE as well as a live hybrid film/concert Here [The Story Sleeps] at Talento Bilingue de Houston. Here, the feature, premiered at the 2011 Sundance and Berlin film festivals and will be distributed by Strand Releasing in early 2012.

Set in Armenia, the film’s narrative structure follows Gadarine (Lubna Azabel) and Will (Ben Foster) — an Armenian art photographer and an American satellite-mapping engineer — from the moment they notice each other over breakfast. They begin traveling together and the two become deeply connected as their sense of themselves, and their world, expands. As their trip comes to an end, each must deal with the conclusions to which their journey has led them, and each must decide where to go from HERE.

HERE is a visual and sensory echo, alluding to all those lovely tiny moments locked deep in your own memory, set to your own internal soundtrack. It’s a cinematic adventure not to be missed.

Karina Longworth for LA Weekly raves: “King’s blending of naturalism and pure cinematic flourish, the startlingly direct romantic philosophy nestled within layers of enigmatic writing and visual obfuscation, packs an unexpectedly powerful emotional punch. It’s the road trip romance reinvented, remapped.”

Note: Q&A discussion between filmmakers and audience adds approximately 30 minutes to running time.
