Possible Worlds is the title of one of several Tilda Swinton films in which the extraordinary actress plays multiple, gender-bending roles, including Man to Man, Orlando, and Teknolust. The actual worlds of Tilda Swinton, however, are as multiple as the parts she plays. The 2009 Cinema Arts Festival Houston is celebrating the artistic achievements of Tilda Swinton as producer, writer, actress, and passionate cinephile. Her commitment to promoting the appreciation of adventurous film art has led her recently to launch the 8½ Foundation, an organization that exposes children to extraordinary world cinema. Among the Foundation's offshoots were the "Ballerina Ballroom Cinema of Dreams" and "A Pilgrimage," two new and utterly unique film festivals held in Scotland.

The Worlds of Tilda Swinton includes three of Swinton's films, Derek, Teknolust with special guest director Lynn Hershman, and a sneak preview of a new movie in which she stars. The weekend culminates with The Ballerina Cinema of Dreams, a celebration in Discovery Green co-presented by HCAS, the 8½ Foundation and Discovery Green Conservancy, featuring a free outdoor screening of The Red Shoes and an outdoor performance by young Houston Ballet students.
